Our Mission

Our Vision

All are welcome and all are working together to make God more relevant in our community.

Our Aim

To be a cohesive, caring church community who learn, worship, and witness to the love of God

Our Priorities

Living Faith

Inspire people to grow in their faith, so together we create a worshipping community aware of God’s presence and responding to his love.

We will achieve this by:

  • encouraging participation of all ages in Sunday worship
  • continuing to provide Sunday Club
  • running a youth group
  • supporting our uniformed organisations
  • holding regular All Age Worship
  • using a range of resources and styles to enhance worship e.g. Taize services
  • sustaining high quality music by continuing the church choir, maintaining the church organ, paying an assistant organist, using a church band
  • deepening faith in house groups, monthly prayer gathering, and annual Lent study.

Friendship

Deepen our relationships with one another. Build a supportive, caring church family.

We will achieve this by:

  • encouraging everybody to help as well as be helped
  • finding out what our congregation wants and what skills they can bring
  • caring for one another through pastoral support
  • providing spaces for conversation and friendship e.g. Saturday Café, Tea & Chat
  • organising regular social gatherings
  • sharing news via a church magazine, weekly sheet, and social media
  • deepening relationships with each other in house groups, monthly prayer gathering, and annual Lent study.

Justice-Seeking

Listen deeply to the needs of our neighbours (both locally and globally) and act with compassion and justice.

We will achieve this by:

  • continuing to learn from and support world issues through: Christian Aid, All We Can, JMA, Action for Children, Fairtrade, Eco Church, and specific campaigns
  • engaging with justice issues through prayer, learning, and action.

A Welcome for All

Offer warm, accessible, welcoming spaces to create a place where loneliness is eased, wellbeing is strengthened, and community is built.

We will achieve this by:

  • providing attractive, accessible facilities for community use
  • enabling groups that promote wellbeing through activities beyond those that church members alone can offer
  • providing welcoming hospitality through Saturday Café, Tea & Chat and other gatherings
  • actively marketing the premises to increase weekday use and income
  • fostering links with local groups.

Resources for Mission

Care for our building as part of caring for our community and our planet. Maintain safe, warm, accessible spaces and manage our resources wisely.

We will achieve this by:

  • exploring ways to ‘turn our building inside out’ – using our premises for mission, increasing outreach into the community and helping the church to grow
  • continuing our work to make our premises fully accessible, warm and weathertight
  • taking measures to lower environmental impact
  • improving signage
  • providing an annual 5-year financial forecast
  • monitoring income and expenditure
  • ensuring we comply with Methodist guidance and Charity Law.
