Room Hire

Our church has four separate areas which are available for hire and are suitable for meetings, training, concerts, parties and exercise groups.

Tea and coffee-making facilities are available in every room.

We have free Wi-Fi throughout the building (available subject to terms of use).

Rooms can be laid out to your requirements by our caretakers using our tables and chairs.

Three of our four rooms have level access, hearing loops and flat access to accessible toilet facilities. Baby changing facilities are also available. 

Rooms

Main Hall

This room has a hardwood floor. There are blackout curtains and a pull-down screen. An upright piano is available but there is no specialist performance equipment.

Capacity: 100

Dimensions: 13.5m x 8.5m (28′ x 44′)

Accessibility: flat access via side door on Chapel Street. A hearing loop is available.

Upper Room

This room has a carpeted floor. There is a kitchenette in the room and an adjacent toilet.

Capacity: 40

Dimensions: 6.5m x 7.5m (22′ x 24′)

Accessibility: this room is not accessible. Access is by a flight of stairs.

Lower Room

This is our smallest room. It is carpeted and has a kitchenette. It can be split in two and has blackout curtains.

Capacity: 40

Dimensions: 5.5m x 8.5m (18′ x 28′)

Accessibility: flat access via door on Fountain Street by arrangement, otherwise 5 steps from ground level. Hearing loop available.

Church

This is a large space with a balcony and raised chancel area (stage) suitable for music performances. There are fixed lights to the chancel area and a PA system with a wired and a radio mic. A grand piano is available for an additional charge.

Capacity: 220

Dimensions: 10m x 15m plus 8m x 5m (chancel)  (32′ x 50′ plus 27′ x 17′ chancel)

Accessibility: accessible via ramps from the Market Place or on the flat via Chapel Street. Accessible toilet to rear of hall.

Hire Costs

As of 1 September 2021, our hire costs are:

Main Hall – £26 per hour

Upper Room – £17 per hour

Lower room – £16 per hour

Church – £45 per hour

 

Other facilities available to hire:

Kitchen (all facilities) – £26 per hour

Kitchen (just microwave/toaster) – £8 per hour

Grand piano – £32 per booking

Whole building – £90 per hour for first two hours, £63 per hour thereafter

Our usual hire period is Mondays to Saturdays, 9am-10pm.

Insurance

If you use the premises on a regular basis – i.e. more than three occasions during the year – you are required by The Methodist Church to have your own Public Liability Insurance.

Prohibited Activities

With this being a church, smoking, consumption of alcohol and gambling (including raffles) are not allowed on the property, nor are Halloween parties.

How to Find Us

Buxton Methodist Church is located on the Market Place off the main road (Terrace Road, A515) through Higher Buxton.

By Car

There is Pay and Display parking available on the Market Place in front of the church and two-hour free parking bays down either side of the church. There is limited parking available on the church forecourt.

By Train

Buxton’s Railway Station is located ~10 minutes walk away. From the station, head into the centre of town and walk up Terrace Road.

By Bus

Buxton’s main bus stops are located ~1 minute walk away further along the Market Place.
